To strengthen the management of entertainment venues and ensure their healthy development, the 122nd Executive Meeting of the State Council passed Order No. 458 of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the "Regulations on the Administration of Entertainment Venues," which came into effect on March 1, 2006. According to the relevant provisions of the regulations, from March 1st onward, all entertainment venues nationwide will be required to install a new type of equipment — walk-through metal detectors. However, for the general public in China, security inspection doors are relatively unfamiliar. How to select a suitable walk-through metal detector for entertainment venues has become one of the key topics that every venue owner and engineering contractor must learn.
Walk-through metal detectors, also known as metal detection doors, are devices designed to detect metallic objects. Since the 1970s, with the development of aviation security technology, walk-through metal detectors have gradually evolved from their initial use in airports to widespread applications in various public venues, including entertainment venues, government agencies, schools, and large-scale events. Their primary function is to detect whether individuals are carrying prohibited metal items such as knives, firearms, or other dangerous objects.
When installing and debugging a walk-through metal detector, the following steps should be followed:
1. Site Selection: Choose a flat, stable ground surface away from large metal objects, strong magnetic fields, and electrical equipment that may cause interference.
2. Assembly: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to assemble the door panels, control unit, and connecting cables securely.
3. Power On: Connect the power supply and turn on the device, allowing it to complete its self-test and initialization process.
4. Sensitivity Adjustment: Adjust the sensitivity levels for different detection zones according to the specific security requirements of the venue. Higher sensitivity settings detect smaller metal objects but may increase false alarm rates.
5. Testing: Conduct thorough testing using standard test objects of various sizes and metal types to ensure consistent detection performance across all zones.
6. Final Calibration: Fine-tune the settings based on test results and the specific security needs of the venue. Train security personnel on proper operation and interpretation of alarm signals.
